Delivery Methods

There are several ways to obtain your tickets once you have purchased them over the phone or on the Internet.

Pick them up in person at any of our stations that have a ticket counter. Check to see if the station closest to you offers this service.

Print them yourself at our new self-service ticketing kiosks. Kiosks are available at the following stations: Aldershot, Brantford, Cobourg, Dorval, Fallowfield, Guelph, Kitchener, Kingston, London, Montréal, Oakville, Oshawa, Ottawa, Québec City, Sainte-Foy, Toronto and Windsor.

Have them mailed to you. This service is offered to all types of passengers, even if they are eligible for a discount according to age. (Child, senior, or student fares included; these clients simply have to provide us with proof of age once they are on board.) We may, however, refuse to mail tickets when they are purchased under certain promotions which require a piece of identification at the time of purchase.

The 'Tickets by Mail' service is free of charge when your departure station does not have a ticket counter and you therefore can't have your tickets printed on location.

Please note: If your departure station does have a ticket counter, there will be a service charge of CAN$10 plus applicable taxes per transaction for the delivery of your tickets. If you have made two separate transactions, two CAN$10 service charges will be required. (Our online booking engine only allows for 6 tickets per transaction). Check to see if the station nearest you has a ticket counter.

Required delivery times:

  • Deliveries in Canada: we can mail your tickets up to 6 consecutive days before your departure.
  • Deliveries in the United States: tickets must be mailed a minimum of 14 consecutive days before departure.

If you are departing from an unmanned station and booking within 6 days of departure, print your own e-ticket right away!

When you or your travel agent books a ticket online at viarail.ca for departures from VIA stations without personnel, you will now be issued an e-ticket.

An e-ticket will only be issued if the booking is made online at viarail.ca, 6 days or less prior to departure. Although your e-ticket is subject to the terms and restrictions of the fare plan under which it is purchased, an e-ticket cannot be refunded or exchanged after the scheduled departure time of the train. The e-ticket may be used solely for the traveller, date, train, class and stations printed on the e-ticket.

On board, you will be required to show photo ID and sign the e-ticket in order for the e-ticket to be valid.
