Classes and services available

Two classes are available:

  • Comfort class (Economy), which gives you comfort at a very reasonable price.
  • VIA 1 class, the choice of demanding travellers looking for excellent meals included in the ticket price and many privileges (VIA 1 is available on select departures).

Trains travelling between Montréal and Ottawa do not have a baggage car. Because of this, we ask you to limit yourself to two articles of baggage. Follow these links for information on carry-on baggage on trains without checked baggage service.

Assigned seating

On these trains, you will be entitled to assigned seating. In other words, your seat numbers will be predetermined. If you travel with a group of people, this guarantees that all members of your party will be together if enough adjacent seats were available at the time you purchased the tickets. If you plan on travelling alone, you can choose to be on the aisle or next to a window. Follow this link to find out more.

Connections and stations

Montréal station is located in the downtown area, close to hotels, restaurants, office towers and major company headquarters. Ottawa station is a few minutes from the parliament building and other tourists attractions of the city.

Schedules, fares and reservations

Not only is the train the most comfortable way to travel, but it is also very affordable. In Comfort class, a one-way ticket between Montréal and Ottawa costs only $31 (Comfort Supersaver fare, purchase five days in advance, taxes extra).
