The security R&D; program is aimed at supporting Canadian air transportation security requirements and increasing the safety of all air travellers. Its current targets are:

• to develop and evaluate innovative methods for detection of metals and explosives
• to develop and evaluate an integrated security system
• to improve the human-machine interfaces of airport security systems
• to provide a basis for the development of certification requirements for security equipment
