Flood conditions in Northern British Columbia continue to disrupt VIA's service between Prince George and Prince Rupert

VANCOUVER - VIA Rail Canada is advising passengers that due to the ongoing flood conditions and river levels in Northern British Columbia, the Skeena train service between Jasper and Prince Rupert remain affected in both directions.

VIA continues to operate the Skeena between Jasper and Prince George only. All service between Prince George and Prince Rupert, in both directions, has been cancelled.

This will remain in effect until further notice.

This includes the following upcoming departures:

  • June 8th, 10th, train #5, from Jasper to Prince Rupert, will terminate in Prince George.
  • June 9th, 11th, train#6, from Prince Rupert to Jasper, will originate in Prince George.

Since rising flood levels are also impacting road conditions, VIA is not able to secure any alternate transportation at this time.

VIA has also suspended all ticket sales between Prince George and Prince Rupert until further notice.

No other VIA service is affected by this situation at this time.

VIA is monitoring this situation and will issue an update as conditions change.
