VIA Rail Set To Resume Normal Service Between Montréal-Toronto and Ottawa-Toronto Following Removal of Blockade

Updated: 2007/06/30 at 1:00 AM

VIA wishes to advise customers that following the removal of the blockade at Marysville, Ontario, preparations are being made to resume all normal operations on affected VIA services.

Effective Saturday morning, beginning with its early morning trains, VIA will resume services in both directions on all services on the following routes:

  • Toronto-Montréal
  • Toronto-Ottawa

Exceptionally, train 655 from Kingston to Toronto (departing at 06:50) will be replaced by bus service.

Effective immediately, VIA Rail will also be resuming ticket sales on these services.

Due to the heavy congestion on the rail line caused by the blockade, VIA is anticipating delays of from one to two hours in total trip time.

VIA wishes to apologize for any inconvenience and for the expected delays this disruption may cause to its passengers. Call volume has been high at VIA's call centres. Customers wishing to purchase tickets or further information encouraged to visit VIA's website viarail.ca or call 888-VIA RAIL (842-7245).
