IERD HELPS BOOST PRODUCTION OF PAPER PRODUCTS
>Recently CETC's Industry Energy Research and Development (IERD) program supported the Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada (PAPRICAN) in the innovative development of a new high intensity drying process for printing and writing grade paper. Also with IERD's support, Corrugated Services LP (CSLP) improved their production of recycled containerboard by 17% with the installation of infrared dryers. Traditionally, paper is dried with steam filled drums as it is pulled through the line. Drying is energy intensive and can account for 35% of the steam energy requirements of an integrated paper mill.
