Yukon Territory
The boundaries of the Yukon Territory were changed in 1901. When the
territory was created, in 1898, the 1895 boundaries had been used. It
was now necessary to include the change, made in 1897, which extended
the boundary to include islands twenty miles from the coast. The boundary
was also extended eastward to include most of the watershed of the Peel
River.
The animation Territorial
Evolution 1867 to 1999 shows sequentially the history of the
political boundary changes in Canada from Confederation to the creation
of Nunavut.
