Conference and workshop fees

The registration fee covers the following:

  • conference attendance and/or workshop attendance
  • workshop and symposium handout material
  • health break refreshments
  • lunches on October 26th, 27th and 28th
  • cocktail on Wednesday, October 26th
  • registration kit including the program, abstracts and list of participants
  • conference proceedings (CD format)

Student registration

The $175 student Symposium fee and the $275 student workshop/Symposium fee are for full-time post-secondary students. Students should photocopy their student identification and include this when mailing or faxing their registration form. Students using the on-line registration form should fax or mail their student identification along with payment. Taxes may be in addition to the basic fees. Applicable taxes and total symposium fees

Canadian federal and provincial/territorial government departments and agencies do not pay any tax. Persons who can give a tax exemption number should include this number along with their registration form. Persons registering from outside Canada do not pay tax. The total registration fee, in Canadian dollars, is shown on the registration form and also in the first column in the table below.

Employees of Statistics Canada should contact their administrative assistant to obtain a Reference number, FRC number and the Pracas. This information is requested at the bottom of the registration form. In this case, no payment is required along with the registration form.

For persons registering from other federal government departments, please see your administrative area for obtaining the Department number, IS Org. Code and the IS Ref. Code. This information is requested at the bottom of the registration form. In this case, no payment is required along with the registration form.

Persons residing in Quebec pay the GST plus 7.5% provincial sales tax. For other Canadian residents only please add one of the following amounts to the registration fee for the goods and services tax (GST) or the harmonized sales tax (HST). The tax collected depends on where you live. For residents of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia or New Brunswick, please add the HST. The table below shows the tax payable and the total amount of the registration including tax in Canadian dollars.

Registration and payment options

Registration options

  1. Complete the on-line registration form and send to Statistics Canada using the secure Statistics Canada registration service. A receipt notification will be sent. Use one of the payment options below.

  2. Mail the completed registration form to the Symposium Registrar by sending to the address in the payment options section below. Use one of the payment options below.

  3. Fax the completed registration form to the Symposium Registrar at (613) 951-0744. Use one of the payment options below.

Payment options

  1. On-line registration is available. You will be asked to give the credit card number and expiry date of the card. Accepted credit cards are American Express, Mastercard and VISA. Your credit card statement will show "Statistics Canada" or "Statistique Canada". Payment is in Canadian dollars and will include any applicable taxes. Please do not include your credit card number on your registration form. Information about taxes and Symposium fees are available in the section Applicable taxes and total Symposium fees.

  2. A cheque or money order payable to the “Receiver General for Canada”. Payment should be made in Canadian dollars and include any applicable taxes. Information about taxes and symposium fees are available in the section Applicable taxes and total symposium fees. Send to the Symposium Registrar at the address below.

  3. Credit card payment may be used by contacting the symposium registrar at (613) 951-4472 or (613) 951-0090. [The country code for Canada is “1”]. You will be asked to give the credit card number and expiry date of the card. Accepted credit cards are American Express, Mastercard and VISA.   4. Payment by governmental departments requires providing one of two sets of codes in the box in the Method of Payment section on the registration form.

Completion of the Symposium registration form is only for the Statistics Canada 2005 Symposium. If you wish to stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel while attending the Symposium, please make the necessary arrangements directly with them.
