ONTARIO JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

Ottawa, December 5, 2006 – The Honourable Vic Toews Q.C., Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Robbie D. Gordon, a sole practitioner with Gordon Law Office in Haileybury, is appointed judge of the Superior Court of Justice in and for the Province of Ontario. He replaces Mr. Justice I.M. Gordon ( Sudbury ) who elected to become a supernumerary judge.

Mr. Justice Gordon received a Bachelor of Laws from the Osgoode Hall Law School in 1985 and was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 1987. He was awarded the George M. Miller Q.C. Award while at law school and the William Belmont Common Q.C. Award at the Bar Admissions Course. Mr. Justice Gordon practised with Ian M. Gordon from 1985 to 1992 before becoming a sole practitioner (1992 to 2006). His practice expertise is in the areas of family law, general litigation, real estate, criminal law, commercial law and municipal law. He is a Past Trustee of the Temiskaming Board of Education and a Director of the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation.

This appointment is effective immediately.
