![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Department of Justice LAW COMMISSION OF CANADA APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCEDOTTAWA, April 27, 2001 -- The Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment: Bernard Colas, of Montreal, is appointed a part-time Commissioner of the Law Commission of Canada. Mr. Colas received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sherbrooke in 1982. He later obtained a Master's Degree in 1985 and a Doctorate in Law in 1995 from the University of Paris 1 (Panthéon Sorbonne). At the time of his appointment to the Law Commission of Canada, Mr. Colas was in private practice with the Montreal firm of Gottlieb & Pearson, specializing in international trade law. He has particular expertise in the negotiation of international contracts and the application of various international trade agreements. In addition to lecturing in the field of international business law at the Law Faculty of the Université de Montréal and at l'École des hautes études commerciales, Mr. Colas has written extensively in this area.
