NEW BRUNSWICK JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, October 17, 2001 -- The Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:

The Honourable Mr. Justice R.J. Guerette of St. John is appointed a Judge of the New Brunswick Court of Queen's Bench, Trial Division. He replaces the Honourable Mr. Justice J. W. Turnbull who elected to become a supernumerary judge.

Mr. Justice Guerette received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1965. He was first appointed to the New Brunswick Court of Queen's Bench, Family Division in 1985.

The Honourable Mr. Justice R. Savoie of Moncton is appointed a Judge of the New Brunswick Court of Queen's Bench, Trial Division. He replaces the Honourable Mr. Justice A.R. Landry who elected to become a supernumerary judge.

Mr. Justice Savoie received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1962. He was first appointed to the New Brunswick Court of Queen's Bench, Family Division in 1988.

Anne D. Wooder of Fredericton is appointed a Judge of the New Brunswick Court of Queen's Bench, Family Division in St. John. She replaces the Honourable Mr. Justice R. J. Guerette who was appointed to the New Brunswick Court of Queen's Bench, Trial Division.

Madam Justice Wooder received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1981. She joined the firm of Cox, Hanson, O'Reilly, Matheson in Fredericton upon her admission to the Bar of New Brunswick ultimately becoming a partner with that firm in 1987.

Madam Justice Wooder has extensive experience in commercial and family law litigation before the trial and appellate courts of New Brunswick. Throughout her practice, she has been active with various professional associations and a frequent presenter at seminars and continuing legal education programs. Madam Justice Wooder served on several committees of the Law Society of New Brunswick including the Discipline and Examinations Committees.

Colette d'Entremont of Rothesay is appointed a Judge of the New Brunswick Court of Queen's Bench, Family Division in Moncton. She replaces the Honourable Mr. Justice R. Savoie who was appointed to the New Brunswick Court of Queen's Bench, Trial Division.

Madam Justice d'Entremont received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Moncton in 1982 and was admitted to the Bar of New Brunswick the following year. Madam Justice d'Entremont joined Patterson, Palmer, Hunt, Murphy in St. John, becoming a partner with that firm in 1990 and practicing primarily in civil litigation and family law matters. She is a former member of the Articling Committee and of the Discipline Committee of the Law Society of New Brunswick. She also served for several years as a member of the Law Foundation of New Brunswick.

These appointments are effective immediately.
