ONTARIO JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA , April 15, 2005 Irwin Cotler, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

Mr. Justice Paul S. Rouleau of Toronto is appointed a judge of the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Mr. Justice Rouleau received a bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa in 1977, and a Masters of Law in Business from York University in 1984. He was admitted to the Ontario Bar 1979.

He was first appointed to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in 2002. Prior to his appointment to the Bench, he was a partner with the Toronto firm of Heenan Blaikie, practising primarily in the area of education law. He is a founding member of the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario and served as President of that organization from 1985 until 1987.

This appointment is effective immediately.
