Headquarters and the regions are responsible for conducting at least one annual exercise focusing on the following objectives:

1. testing a plan and its component procedures and equipment;
2. training personnel;
3. determining necessary corrective action, if required; and
4. implementing approved changes.

CACO conducts and participates in exercises with the United States, NORAD, Transport Canada, other government departments and industry. These exercises can take several forms, including tabletop and live exercises.
