What beliefs and rituals were part of daily life at Qumran, the
ancient Jewish settlement near which the Scrolls were discovered?
Dr. Daniel Falk of the University of Oregon discussed the implications
for early Christianity.
Dr. Falk is the author of Daily, Sabbath, and Festival Prayers in
the Dead Sea Scrolls (E. J. Brill, 1998) and of numerous articles
on the Scrolls. He is a member of the International Team of Editors of
the Dead Sea Scrolls and has held research fellowships at the
University of Oxford, the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies
and the University of Oregon. Dr. Falk discussed topics such as prayer,
the sacred calendar, religious laws, beliefs and community order in Qumran.
