Five years ago, the world held its breath for the turn of the millennium.

There were fears of a technological apocalypse at the stroke of midnight on Dec. 31, 1999. But there were also high hopes, for the children about to be born and the world they were being born into.

In this special audio feature, CBC Radio reporters bring you the stories of four children born around the globe as the year 1999 turned into the year 2000. The "Millennium Babies" live in the Philippines, in Guatemala, in France and in Uganda.

Click on the links below to hear their stories.

"Millennium Babies" was produced by Penny Cadrain for CBC Radio's "The World at Six." The executive producer of "The World at Six" is Jack Nagler.
