We have significantly enhanced our website to improve your access to environmental information and services. Our improved navigation and consistent look and feel are the result of input we gathered from clients across the country.
Key features of the website include:
We have added several new sections and features to our website to help you find the information and services you are looking for.

Frequently asked questions have always been a popular section at Environment Canada. We are always updating our FAQs based upon the feedback we receive through our national Inquiry Centre.
On the right side of the Home page you will find a link to Environment Canada's Weather Office. Weather forecasts are issued up to three times a day while current conditions for hundreds of locations are updated hourly.
The site map illustrates how our Internet presence is now organized. Over the next couple of years, we will be working to update many of the web pages you see linked here with new content and our new design.
The In Focus section contains links to highlighted content. For example, during hurricane season, we will likely highlight information on hurricanes and hurricane science. Content is listed chronologically.
From the left menu bar you can access all our information and services organized by subject. You can quickly change subject areas by clicking the main menu button to return to the Home page.
When you access a main subject area page from the left-hand menu, you will see a summary of what you can expect to find in this section.
Farther down the page, we list the main information categories related to the subject under the heading "Find Out About". These links lead to a page dedicated to your subject choice. You may also navigate to any of these pages by clicking on any of the buttons in the left menu.
For some popular subjects, we have grouped links into very specific categories so that you can find what you are looking for without having to sift through too much information outside your area of interest.
The page header was designed based on research we conducted with our clients. It also conforms to new guidelines for Government of Canada websites, so it includes many standard components that are common across all government websites.
The black horizontal toolbar gives you quick access to several basic functions. Here is a list of the menu items on the tool bar and how they help you:
In the page footer, you will find information on the date the page was most recently updated. The footer also contains a quick link to the top of the page and a link to our important notices page which offers information on copyright, permission to reproduce, privacy, official languages, and our web links policy.
We have created a special print layout of our website that will help you print our pages on standard printer paper. You will see a print preview of the page when you click on this link.
This is a version of our website that is more accessible for people with visual impairments. It is also useful for people who access our site using mobile devices, such as a Blackberry, or have an older computer or use dial-up to access the Internet.
We are continuing to integrate the rest of our approximately 80,000 pages into this new design and layout. As you return to our website over the months to come, you will see many new developments.
