Ottawa Senators captain and leading scorer Daniel Alfredsson will miss at least one game due to a groin injury.
Alfredsson suffered the injury in Thursday's 6-5 shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Alfredsson had three assists in the game but was unable to take a shot in the shootout. He will miss Saturday's contest against Philadelphia (CBC, 7 p.m. ET).
Senators coach John Paddock says his captain is day-to-day but added: "I don't think that day-to-day includes playing tomorrow."
Ottawa, the top team in the NHL with a 16-4-1 record, lost consecutive games for the first time all season.
Alfredsson leads the Senators with 16 goals and 30 points on the season.
Alfredsson's linemate Jason Spezza recently returned to the Ottawa lineup after missing six games with a groin injury.
