The public inquiry into the Air India bombing resumed on Sept. 17, 2007, focusing on why the Canadian Security Intelligence Service erased wiretap recordings of the prime suspect in the 1985 attack.

The probe, back after a summer break, is looking at the investigation that took place after the bomb destroyed Flight 182 as it was en route from Canada to India. The decision at CSIS to get rid of taped phone conversations has frustrated the victim's families. Many of them believe it hindered chances for convictions on the most serious charges in the bombing.
