Message from the Honourable Ujjal Dosanjh, Minister of Health on the occasion of the launch of the new, integrated Health Canada Web site

August 9, 2005

As Minister of Health, I have committed my department to be an agent of change and a model of openness. In keeping with that goal, Health Canada's Web site must be a source Canadians turn to for relevant, accurate and timely information on the health issues that concern them.

I am pleased and proud to announce the launch of the new, integrated Health Canada Web site. The site has been reorganized and redesigned - to make information easier to find and to provide greater access for all Canadians. I encourage you to take the 'virtual tour' of the new site to learn about the changes we've made, and to update your bookmarks and links.

Browse the site and you'll notice that information is now organized by subjects, enabling visitors to locate all information on a specific topic in one area. The site covers hundreds of health-related topics, and now there are multiple ways to navigate to topics of interest. The improved design, plain language and subject-based organization also help make the site more accessible to a greater number of Canadians - such as those who need assistive devices or those with limited literacy levels.

I congratulate and commend the hundreds of employees who made these significant changes possible. I also thank all visitors for their continued interest in Health Canada's Web site - which remains a leading source of health-related information for all Canadians.

The Honourable Ujjal Dosanjh
Minister of Health
