Transport Canada is pleased to offer Canadian employers a practical and
comprehensive guide to improving commuter options for their employees. Based on
years of international experience but with a focus on Canadian examples and
resources, this guide covers the full range of ways that commuting can be made
easier, healthier and less expensive by improving the alternatives to driving
alone.
The guide is accompanied by materials that can be used by business groups,
government agencies or non-profit organizations to deliver a one-day training
workshop to representatives of interested employers.
The Commuter Options guide and workshop are designed for use by small, medium
or large employers anywhere in Canada, in both the public and private sectors.
Property developers and managers who want to build and operate more attractive
and efficient facilities can also benefit from them.
Many other Canadian agencies that offer related support services to employers
are identified in Chapter 2 of the guide. The important local information and
resources they can provide are an important complement to the Commuter Options
guide and workshop. Transport Canada encourages interested employers to
investigate the services available in their region.
