Community Services
From the very beginning, you will adopt the City of Gatineau as your new home! It offers an array of resources and services that will help you feel welcome and be part of the community.
Over the past few years, the City has introduced several initiatives expressing its commitment and leadership in this regard. Here are a few examples:
- Created a permanent position to handle relations with different cultural communities;
- Reiterated its commitment to the broad principles and values stated in the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms;
- Participated in a UNESCO working committee against racism and discrimination;
- Developed welcoming sessions for newcomers to inform them of the services available in the City;
- In January, 2007, started a weekly show on cultural diversity in Gatineau — an initiative of the Service des arts, de la culture et des lettres de la Ville de Gatineau, in co-operation with Canal-Vox.
