 Interactive Pollution Model

A do-it-yourself guide for building an interactive pollution model

Here is a way to help reduce pollution in your community & have fun too by participating with a hands-on Non-Point Source Pollution Model.

Interactive Pollution Model

The Non-Point Source Pollution (NPSP) Model is a totally interactive environmental education tool for understanding pollution, where it comes from and what we, as individuals, can do about it.

Download the NPSP file (2 Mb PDF)

Download the standalone model (1 Mb PDF)

This colourful web site is available to inspire kids, educators, community groups, parents, etc. to research and understand NPSP and encourage them to build their own working model replicating their neighbourhood or or community.

The site also:

  • Explains non-point source pollution
  • Shows how Environment Canada's model is built
  • Provides a suggested "step by step" presentation
  • Includes many resources and curriculum connections
  • Describes how the model can be used while having fun learning about pollution and ways to reduce it.

This project has been funded through Environment Canada's Georgia Basin Ecosystem Initiative.
