The Blackfoot Way of Life: Nitsitapiisinni
From:  October 8, 2004
To:      February 13, 2005

Travelling constantly across the Northern Plains, the Blackfoot knew every detail of their land.

Through recreated environments with videos, soundtracks and more than 140 objects, The Blackfoot Way of Life: Nitsitapiisinni presents the history, culture and identity of the Blackfoot people, one of the largest First Nation communities in Canada. This exhibition tells their story from their own perspective, helping visitors understand what it means to be Blackfoot.

The exhibition explores fundamental belief systems, traditional stories, sacred places, dances and ceremonies. It also examines relationships with governments and the importance of ensuring the survival of the Blackfoot legacy.

An exhibition organized and circulated by the Glenbow Museum, Calgary
