Search Tips
The text search allows you to search for information using
key words, modifiers, and "operators" such as AND,
OR, And NOT.
How to improve search results:
- To search for multiple words, separate each word with
a space. For example, if you specify skin cancer, the search
engine will return all documents that contain the words
skin and/or cancer. It will also return all documents containing
variations of these words, such as skinny and cancerous.
- Search for an exact word or phrase by enclosing the word
or phrase in quotation marks. For example, if you specify
"skin cancer", only documents containing the exact
phrase "skin cancer" will appear.
- Use search operators such as AND, OR, and NOT for exact
match searching. (Use these whole words, not symbols such
as +, |, !, etc.)
- Use AND to return to all documents that contain the
words you specified in the Search text field. For example,
entering children AND nutrition would return documents
that contained both of those words.
- Use OR to return all documents that contain at least
one of the words specified. For example, entering children
OR nutrition would return documents that contained either
words.
- Use NOT to return all documents that contain certain
words and not others. For example, entering children
NOT nutrition would return only documents that contain
children but would exclude any document that also contained
the word nutrition.
- To further restrict a search to only those documents with
the highest relevance ratings, reduce the number of documents
returned by typing a lower figure in the box above identified
as Number of documents to return.
