NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT

of an environmental assessment

Incinerator, Mississauga Metals & Alloys Inc

Brampton (ON)

September 14, 2005 (Update) -- The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission will conduct a screening commencing on June 25, 2004 of the project: Incinerator, Mississauga Metals & Alloys Inc.

The installation and operation of an incinerator in an existing building; the construction or modification of the existing building and the supporting systems (i.e. mechanical/electrical); the continued operation of recycling metals that are potentially contaminated with radioactive material; the possession of low-level waste (including Category 3 material); and the treatment of the pickling solution by using a filter press.

Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission may issue a permit or license under subsection 24(2) of the Nuclear Safety and Control Act.
