Canada Registration of Canadians Abroad
The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade offers a registration service for Canadians who expect to be, or are already, living in any foreign country for three months or more. Canadians spending less than three months visiting areas or countries with a potential for problems should also register. This service is provided to assist consular officers in contacting Canadians abroad to offer urgent advice during a natural disaster or civil unrest, or to inform them of a family emergency at home. Registration is voluntary, and personal information provided on the registration form is protected and used in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act.
