International Perspectives

Benchmarking the Digital Economy

Networking, knowledge sharing and innovation are keys to success in the new economy. The ability of Canadians to connect to one another and to global partners, using emerging information and communication technologies (ICTs) will shape our collective future. The new Networked Economy will continue to grow and in order to measure Canada's success in the Internet economy we must be able to benchmark our progress against the progress of other nations.

Exploring International Fora

Canada is leading International efforts aimed at creating a comprehensive legal and policy framework for electronic commerce. It supports collaboration among a broad range of stakeholder interests. Canada focuses its works on several multialteral fora, centering on the efforts of the OECD Ministerial conference that was held in Ottawa, October 1998.
