Civil Aviation Program
- Those components of Transport Canada that conduct activities related to aviation safety.
Civil Aviation Safety Framework
- The structure within which the many and varied operations and activities of
all stakeholders in civil aviation safety can be integrated.
Performance-Based Regulations
- Regulations specifying the safety requirements that a regulated person or
entity must meet but providing flexibility in terms of how they are to be achieved.
Prescriptive Regulations
- Regulations that prescribe what the safety requirements are and how they are
to be achieved.
Public
- A generic description of taxpayers and their representatives. Categories
include business and non-business travelers, non-travelers, and Parliamentarians.
Public Safety
- The protection of life, health, property and the environment.
Recreational Aviation
- Any aviation activity carried out primarily for enjoyment on a "not
for-hire-or-reward" basis.
Risk Management
- The process of identifying risks, assessing their implications, deciding on a
course of action and evaluating the results.
Safety Management
- That part of an organization’s overall management function which determines
and implements its safety policy and principles.
Safety Management System
- The systematic way in which an organization approaches safety; typically, it
includes strategies detailing how this will be achieved; the role of all
individuals in respect to safety; the method used to measure and record the level
of safety in the organization; the tools available to monitor on-going safety
levels and safety issues; and the procedures implemented and lessons disseminated
as a result of the previous two stages.
Stakeholder
- A person or organization with an interest in aviation.
