Screening and You

As a government organization, the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is here to protect you and your family by providing expertly trained and dedicated staff at security checkpoints across Canada.

CATSA's website will provide you with information for packing your carry-on and checked baggage, what to expect at the pre-board screening checkpoint, special needs and things you can do before you get to the airport.

We are committed to protecting you.

Here are a few helpful tips:
  • Most pointed and sharp objects are not permitted beyond the pre-board screening checkpoint.
  • Toy guns and gun replicas are not allowed beyond the checkpoint. Remember that a gun which may be a plastic toy can look like a real gun on an x-ray machine.
  • Medication should be properly labelled and placed in your carry-on baggage.
  • Before you leave home, be aware of the latest
  • restrictions for carry-on baggage.
  • Avoid the rush and arrive early!
