Our regulatory oversight program has been implemented to promote and ensure conformance with the aviation regulations and standards, collectively prescribing an acceptable level of aviation safety. In conducting regulatory inspection and audit, and documenting the activity process, we are able to assess and demonstrate an organization’s level of conformance to regulatory requirements. Adherence to the guidance herein is imperative and will ensure inspection or audit policies / procedures are uniformly applied across Canada.
Our current Regional Audit Program will include one of the following three types of Audits:
- Specialty audit which is Division specific. An example would be that the General Aviation branch would carry out an audit that focuses specifically on their areas of concern.
- Combined audit which would include more than one division, working under the responsibility of one Audit Manager to assess all areas of responsibility within an organization. This could include Commercial and Business Aviation, General Aviation and Aircraft Maintenance and Manufacturing.
- Concurrent audit is the last example and this would mean that two specialty audits (and divisions) would carry out audits at the same time. This is also the least common approach. The sole purpose of this is to coordinate the activities involved in the audit process so as to be the least disruptive as possible for the organization that is being audited – one visit versus two separate visits for audits.
