- Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC)
Offers a wide range of financial and consulting services that address the unique needs of today's small and medium-sized enterprises, including:
- Consulting Services — Customized solutions related to quality, process improvement, benchmarking and ISO.
- Innovation Loans — Loans created to help innovative businesses position themselves to take advantage of new markets and new technologies available to today's global players.
- Productivity Plus Loan — Loans designed for manufacturing and processing companies that want to increase their productivity but need financial support to acquire equipment.
- Groupement des chefs d'entreprise du Québec
A Quebec-based network of business leaders in the manufacturing and distribution industries. Over 120 club locations across the province offer conferences, conventions and a wide network of business contacts.
- Human Resources Management
A clearinghouse of information for employers looking at all aspects of human resource management, including best practices in high performance workplaces.
- Industry Canada
A federal government department with a mandate to help make Canadians more productive and competitive in the knowledge-based economy. Resources include:
- Manufacturing Industries Branch — A branch within Industry Canada with a strong focus in the areas of advanced manufacturing and materials, along with extensive manufacturing links.
- Solutions for Advanced Manufacturing (SAM) — An Industry Canada Web site showcasing industrial automation products and services offered by over 400 Canadian-based suppliers.
- SME Direct — SME Direct is the new, small business Web site that serves as a one-stop shop for all your small business needs. Diagnostic and benchmarking tools, informative Web sites, relevant databases and a wealth of other resources are provided to assist you in your decision-making. Whether you're just starting out or your business is well on its way, SME Direct has the information you need.
- Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) — (Newfoundland)
A result of a collaboration between the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, Memorial University and College of the North Atlantic, the MTC creates a simplified path for Newfoundland manufacturers to access the combined capabilities of the post-secondary education sector.
- National Research Council Canada (NRC)
The NRC is a leader in scientific and technical research, the diffusion of technology and the dissemination of scientific and technical information.
- Canada Institute for Science and Technology Information (CISTI): A leading library/source for information in all areas of science, technology, engineering and medicine, including referrals to experts and relevant literature.
- Canadian Technology Network (CTN) The CTN provides SMEs access to a wide range of technology and related business assistance through a cross-country network of organizations and advisors.
- Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) IRAP assists SMEs create and adopt innovative technologies and processes. Over 260 Industrial Technology Advisors work throughout Canada and offer direct technical assistance, expertise, facilities and resources, as well as cost shared financing of innovative technical projects.
- The NRC has three institutes in its Manufacturing Technology Group:
- Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA)
Encourages growth and diversification in the economy of the Saskatoon region. Supports networking and training opportunities on latest industry trends, including Lean.
