Back in Toronto, Maureen and partner Martin Waxman formed their own production company Makin' Movies Inc. Since then, they have produced 3 films, all of which Maureen co-wrote, directed and edited, and all of which were aired on CBC. Their most recent project, "Altered Ego", an hour long featurette film, was broadcast as a prime time special on CBC in 1991.

Maureen also directed and edited Lilian Allen's poetry video for the NFB Studio D. She has received many arts council grants and conducted numerous film workshops. She is a former chair of the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto's board of directors, and was a founding member of "cineAction!" film magazine. Maureen has just completed " And We Knew How to Dance - Women and World War I", an NFB documentary on Women who worked during WWI and is currently developing several film and television projects.
