Cybersquatting Standards
Standard 3.1 - Domain Names
Question:
Have all institutional titles and/or acronyms, including those chosen for
primary URLs, been registered as Internet domain names under .com, .net and .org?
Reference: Standard 3.1
Explanation:
To reduce the possibility that other parties will use domain names that are
similar to GoC institutional titles and/or acronyms, institutions must register
their institution titles and/or acronyms as Internet domain names under .com,
.net and .org. This will help reduce the risk that an enterprise will register
and use institutional titles and acronyms in a way that may lead some users to
believe that they are accessing legitimate GoC services.
