Business Transformation Tools for Government Executives,

Canadians and businesses alike want convenient, multi-channel access to seamless government services, integrated across programs, departments, and jurisdictions. At the same time, they want their governments to be more transparent, accountable, and efficient.

Meeting these expectations means governments as a whole must have business processes that are more interoperable and integrated. To help executives, managers, and transformation project teams achieve this, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's Business Transformation Enablement Program (BTEP) has developed a common, formal, standardized business transformation methodology.

What's in it for you?

Government is under increasing pressure to deliver effective solutions, with fewer resources, that will produce results over shorter time frames. BTEP can help government executives, managers, and their teams face today's challenges by providing tools that support the planning, design, and implementation of business change.

Tools for improving efficiency

These include standard reference models (e.g. the Governments of Canada Strategic Reference Model-GSRM for business planning, design, and implementation, as well as training to support employees engaged in business management.

Tools for improving accountability

These include tools that demonstrate and ensure that lines of accountability, performance metrics, and expectations are clearly defined and transparent for not only vertical but also horizontal service delivery.

Tools for creating better outcomes

These include tools for creating explicit links between services, expenditures, and outcomes to ensure alignment with government outcomes, as well as tools to address the needs of target client groups in business planning.

Tools for ensuring collaborative solutions

These include tools for working collaboratively and horizontally across government programs, departments and government jurisdictions, as well as a "common language" using public service terminology for business transformation to facilitate communication and understanding across organizational cultures.
