The CMS Metadata Sub-Group of the GOL Metadata Working Group was created in April 2005 to support the work of the enterprise GC CMS initiative's Functional Working Group (now defunct). As of April 2006, the Sub-Group will also report to the GC Decentralized WCMS Partnership Committee which has replaced the CMS Steering Committee and its related working groups. In order to avoid potential conflict, the dual reporting role is defined as reporting to GOL MWG for standards and harmonization and to the Partnership for business requirements.
The sub-group's role is to define, align and manage metadata frameworks and processes in support of the GC CMS business processes, publishing and content delivery. Membership is open to representatives of the GC community who have knowledge and expertise of the common CMS, especially with regard to horizontal and departmental metadata.
The sub-group is chaired by Lynn Herbert, Service Canada.
