Information Notice - Access to Information and Privacy - Training Calendar January to March 2007,

No.:  2006-16
Date:  January 12, 2007
To: Training Calendar January to March 2007

We are pleased to provide you with the Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) training calendar for the January to March 2007 period. As this training is offered to all ATIP practitioners, we would appreciate having you distribute the documentation to all practitioners within your organization, at headquarters and in the regions. Please note that this training is limited to federal public servants.

If you are working in the National Capital Area (NCA), you will be provided with classroom training in Ottawa. Registration within the NCA is on a first come, first served basis. We will be confirming each participant's registration by e-mail approximately two weeks prior to each scheduled training session.

Participants are asked to complete the attached training registration form and to send one, for each training session desired, to Brian Downing. Once the participant receives our confirmation notice, he or she should contact Brian Downing again to re-confirm their planned attendance, either by e-mail at Downing.Brian@tbs-sct.gc.ca or by telephone at 613-957-2480.

For financial reasons, once the participant has re-confirmed his or her planned attendance, your institution will be invoiced for the training. Therefore, if the participant is unable to attend the confirmed session, it would be useful to have another employee attend the training in his or her place.

If you are working outside of the NCA, you have the option of travelling to the NCA to attend the classroom training, or participating in the classroom training by means of either teleconferencing or by video-conferencing. Please note that both the teleconferencing and video-conferencing options are being offered on a pilot basis.

If you wish to travel to the NCA to participate in the classroom training, please follow the registration instructions set out for ATIP practitioners working in the NCA.

If you wish to participate by teleconferencing, please tick the 'teleconference' box on the training registration form. We will confirm your registration by e-mail approximately two weeks prior to each scheduled training session.

When our confirmation notice is received, we ask that the participant contact Brian Downing to re-confirm his or her planned participation by teleconferencing. This can be done by either sending an e-mail message to Downing.Brian@tbs-sct.gc.ca, or by calling him at 613-957-2480.

Participation by video-conferencing, however, is dependent upon several factors, including your accessibility to video-conferencing equipment in the region as well as the number of participants joining the training session from your region.

We are pleased to inform you that we can make available videoconference facilities in Halifax, Montreal, Winnipeg and Edmonton. If you are working at another location, we would appreciate learning if your institution will make its video-conferencing facilities available for your use.

Given the additional administration involved in organizing the video-conferencing connections, the deadline for registering to participate is one month before the date of the session. We will then confirm each participant's registration by e-mail approximately three weeks prior to the scheduled training session.

If, after registering for a training session via videoconference, the participant finds that he or she is unable to attend the session, you may wish to have another employee attend the training session in his or her place since you will be invoiced for the training.

We invite you to register by completing the attached training registration form (one form per individual training session) and sending it as soon as possible to Brian Downing. The forms may be sent by e-mail to downing.brian@tbs-sct.gc.ca, or faxed to him at 613-957-8020.

If we are unable to register the participant for a particular training session, his or her name will be put on a waiting list.

We have established a new pricing structure for each training session. The new price structure equally distributes the cost of delivering each session among all participants in the training. The maximum cost that will be assessed per participant will be $100 for a Lunch and Learn session and $150 per course for a Workshop.

We will inform you of the exact cost per participant for each training session once the registration process has been completed. If you wish to receive a copy of the methodology used to calculate the costs, please contact Brian Downing.

We ask that participants bring their own writing material to each training session.

Brian Downing is also available to answer your questions regarding course content. Feel free to contact him by e-mail at Downing.Brian@tbs-sct.gc.ca or by telephone at 613-957-2480.
