Land Force Command Environmental Management Director - Land Environment (DLE)
Land Force Command Environmental Management
The mission of Canada's Army is to generate and maintain a combat capable and multi-purpose land force to achieve the nation's defence objectives. To accomplish this mission, the army's main peacetime task is operational training. Its garrisons, firing ranges and training areas are therefore essential resources that must be maintained and preserved.
To carry out its activities and manage its garrisons, firing ranges and training areas in a sustainable manner, Land Force Command (LFC) continually strives to improve its environmental management by:
- Taking environmental factors into account in all of its decision making;
- Respecting federal legislation and, when applicable, conforming to municipal, provincial, territorial and international standards;
- Respecting the Code of Environmental Stewardship and environmental policies; and
- Encouraging pollution prevention and best practices.
Army leadership strongly urges all members of the Canadian Forces and the Department of National Defence who are working in LFC to comply with this policy. The co-operation of all concerned is essential if LFC is to reach its goals of sustainable development.
