TRANSPORTATION AND EMPLOYMENT

One of the repercussions of the economic slowdown on the transportation industry
was a less significant growth in transport employment levels in 2001 than in previous years.

The transportation sector has accounted for more than 800,000 full-time jobs since 1998. Preliminary figures for 2001 show signs of a weaker growth in employment over the previous years.
