3 GOVERNMENT SPENDING ON TRANSPORTATION

In fiscal year 2002/03, all levels of government in Canada increased their transportation expenditures by a combined total of $1.3 billion.

This chapter reviews transportation revenues and expenditures by level of government. It looks at federal expenses related to transportation facilities and services according to two categories: activities related to operations and those related to safety, security and policy.
