N/A: not available    e: estimate

  1. In 1998-2000, the sharp decrease in employment recorded under intercity bus operators is due to consolidated reporting coming from mergers and acquisitions, as some intercity carriers activities have been reported under carriers involved primarily in school bus operations.
  2. Urban transit data adapted from Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) statistics.
  3. 2001-02: A new bus survey first conducted by Statistics Canada in 2001 covers all bus/urban transit companies. The 2001 data should not be compared to data of previous years as coverage and methodology differ from Statistics Canada's previous bus industry survey.
