Dec. 9 8:58 PM PT9:58 PM MT10:58 PM CT11:58 PM ET-Carter had 30 points in New Jersey's loss to Washington on Sunday.
Analysis: Carter scored 17 points in the second half, including 11 of the first 13 points for the team. He was coming off a 32-point performance on Friday. Carter also had five rebounds and four assists.
Dec. 2 9:49 PM PT10:49 PM MT11:49 PM CT12:49 AM ET-Carter scored 24 points Saturday night in a reserve role, and the Nets ended a five-game home losing streak with a 94-92 overtime victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
Analysis: Before the game, Nets coach Lawrence Frank explained the decision to bring Carter off the bench. "It's not a demotion," Frank said. "We won three games with him coming off the bench. We've been lacking points off the bench. Coming off the bench, he can be a little fresher, be more of a hub and a focal point and carry more of an offensive burden. It's a game-by-game deal."
Nov. 27 8:57 PM PT9:57 PM MT10:57 PM CT11:57 PM ET-Carter returned to New Jersey's starting lineup on Tuesday and had a season-high 32 points in the loss.
Analysis: Carter missed five games due to a sprained ankle and was coming off the bench the last three. He played 40 minutes Tuesday and had nine rebounds and seven assists, so he seems good to go.
Nov. 20 10:54 PM PT11:54 PM MT12:54 AM CT1:54 AM ET-Carter, the Nets most reliable scorer, missed his fifth straight game Monday with a sprained right ankle.
Analysis: Carter's timetable to return is uncertain though he did join the team on this four-game Western Conference road trip.
Nov. 12 11:39 AM PT12:39 PM MT1:39 PM CT2:39 PM ET-Carter will be sidelined indefinitely with a sprained right ankle.
Analysis: An MRI on Monday revealed Carter sustained a Grade 1 sprain in Saturday's game, Nets president Rod Thorn said Monday. There is no timetable for Carter's return. The eight-time All-Star was hurt in the third quarter of a 112-101 loss to Boston. He landed on the foot of Celtics forward Paul Pierce after a dunk. Carter averaged 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists through the first six games. He signed a four-year contract valued at about $65 million in the offseason.
Nov. 11 11:52 AM PT12:52 PM MT1:52 PM CT2:52 PM ET-Carter was listed as doubtful for the New Jersey Nets' game against the New Orleans Hornets on Monday night because of a badly sprained right ankle.
Analysis: The eight-time All-Star was hurt on Saturday night in the third quarter of a 112-101 loss to Boston. He landed on the foot of Celtics forward Paul Pierce after a dunk. Carter, who left the IZOD Center wearing a walking cast, had treatment on Sunday, Nets spokesman Aaron Harris said. Carter, who signed a four-year contract valued at about $65 million in the offseason, is averaging 17 points, second best on the team.
Nov. 10 10:38 AM PT11:38 AM MT12:38 PM CT1:38 PM ET-Carter sprained his right ankle during the Nets' game on Saturday.
Analysis: Carter drove the lane for a big slam dunk with 1:23 to play. His left foot came down, but his right foot rolled after landing on the foot of Celtics forward Paul Pierce. Carter lay on the court for a couple of minutes before slowly going straight to the Nets locker room. He was wearing a nearly knee-high boot on his right foot after the game. "I'll see how it feels tomorrow and we'll go from there. I don't want to put a timetable on it."
Nov. 5 8:51 PM PT9:51 PM MT10:51 PM CT11:51 PM ET-Carter is dealing with lingering pain after his thumb was slightly injured during the Nets' opener against Chicago, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
Analysis: Carter said the injury is slowing him down and contributing to his poor start. He's averaging 16.3 points in the first three games of the season, but he should bounce back.
Nov. 3 5:46 PM PT6:46 PM MT7:46 PM CT8:46 PM ET-Carter was held to seven points in the Nets' loss to Toronto on Friday.
Analysis: Carter averaged 25.2 points last season and scored 24 in the season opener on Wednesday. Despite shooting just 29.6 percent (8-for-27) through two games, he should bounce back soon.
Jun. 13 9:00 PM PT10:00 PM MT11:00 PM CT12:00 AM ET-The Nets signed a deal with Carter on Friday that will keep the eight-time All-Star in New Jersey at least through the 2010-11 season. Carter will receive $66 million guaranteed - which includes four years plus a partial guarantee for a fifth year - and could make as much as $80 million, according to a person involved in the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the Nets haven't announced the terms.
Analysis: Carter was the only Net to play in all 82 games last season and averaged 25.2 points, six rebounds and 4.8 assists. The re-signing of Carter, the NBA's fourth-highest scoring active player with a career average of 24.1 points, indicates that the team feels its nucleus - Carter, Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson and rehabbing center Nenad Krstic - is strong enough to contend for a title, with a few tweaks.
Jun. 1 3:30 PM PT4:30 PM MT5:30 PM CT6:30 PM ET-Carter and the New Jersey Nets have the framework in place for a four-year contract that guarantees the All-Star more than $60 million, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.
Analysis: Word of the deal came Sunday, though the person spoke on condition of anonymity because under league rules the agreement can not be announced until July 11, the first day free agents can sign. Carter averaged team-highs of 25.2 points in the regular season and 22.3 for the postseason. However, he shot less than 40 percent from the field during the playoffs and made several big mistakes.
