Vancouver Canucks forward Brendan Morrison showed up at the rink with a cast Monday and confirmed that he will be sidelined up to 12 weeks after undergoing surgery on his right wrist.
Morrison, 32, had surgery last Thursday night to repair the wrist, which he hurt when checked into the boards in a pre-season game on Sept. 26.

The Pitt Meadows, B.C., native must wear the cast for six weeks.
"Now it is just a matter of being patient," Morrison said. "It is significant time."
Morrison played in pain but played well, posting eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 30 games before being shut down.
"It just got to the point where I felt I was becoming a liability on the ice," he said. "Especially in our zone.
"I could not push guys, I couldn't lean on guys, I couldn't engage in any type of battle. I knew it was time to get something done."
Equally painful for Morrison was the end of his streak of 542 consecutive games played, dating back to Feb. 27, 2000, and the longest active run in the NHL.
"The Iron Man streak had nothing to do with it," he said of putting off the surgery.
"If we had determined in training camp I needed surgery, then it wouldn't have been an issue. I would have had it done."
Morrison has totalled 158 goals and 469 points in 665 games over 11 NHL seasons with the New Jersey Devils and Canucks.
He was drafted in the second round (39th overall) by New Jersey in 1993.
