Just before the turn of the millennium, Hong Kong artist Michael Lau recast a bunch of G.I. Joe figures as city warriors, replacing their army fatigues with hip-hop gear and substantially altering their bodies. Eventually, he had created a series of urban action figures, including a line called Lamdogs.
