Crime thriller No Country for Old Men and oil boom epic There Will Be Blood have added more accolades to their growing film awards haul, after the American Film Institute released its list of 2007's top movies.
A jury composed of filmmakers, reviewers and academics represented the film heritage body in selecting 10 films.
Also making the cut for 2007 are:
- Into the Wild
- Michael Clayton
- Juno
- Knocked Up
- Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
- The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
- Ratatouille
- The Savages
Many films on the list have already been named among the year's best by several film critics groups and at the Golden Globe nomination announcement in recent weeks.
However, notable omissions include Atonement and Charlie Wilson's War — the two films that scored the most Globe nominations last week.
The AFI's list, critics' honours and the Golden Globes nominees are typically indicators of which films will be selected as Academy Award nominees.
AFI also listed its top TV picks of the year, a tally similar to the Golden Globe nominations revealed last week.
