A weekly walk-in clinic in western P.E.I. has been forced to shut down until at least the new year.
The Beechwood Community Health Centre in O'Leary has been open on Wednesday nights for about the past six months, attracting about 20 patients a week.
Acting manager Cheryl Doran told CBC News Tuesday there simply aren't enough doctors to staff the evening clinic and emergency rooms in the area.
"We've had to suspend it a couple of times in the past as well, just simply because the physicians are already working long hours," said Doran.
"We just don't have the manpower to keep the emergency rooms running as the physicians are trying to cover a call there and do the evening clinic as well."
Doran said staff will reassess the situation in January, but another doctor will be required in the area for the clinic to reopen.
