Fire Protection - Federal
One of the greatest threats to personal health and safety, property, and the delivery of essential services is the risk of fire in the workplace. To protect First Nation people on reserves and workers and property in federal departments, agencies and some crown corporations from this threat, the Government of Canada:
- Develops and applies fire protection policies and safety standards
- Enforces the fire safety regulations and fire protection requirements of the National Building Code of Canada and the National Fire Code of Canada
- Reviews building design drawings and specifications
- Inspects buildings
- Conducts engineering surveys
- Investigates fires
- Provides educational and counselling services to reduce the risk of fires
