Framework for the Management of Information
in the Government of Canada (FMI)
The FMI is a key initiative aimed at modernizing and enhancing the management of information in the Government of Canada. The FMI will assist departments and agencies by providing authoritative guidance on how to best manage information to support business delivery, enhance Citizen access, improve results, fulfill government information obligations, and strengthen accountability. Government departments and agencies will be able to use FMI standards and guidelines as is or to adapt them to meet their specific needs.
IMRC - Key Issues and Resources: Preservation
This new IMRC section provides resources on the preservation of records, particularly information presented in electronic formats. Resources are divided into Canadian and International sections, with the former being accessible either by topic or government agency.
Privacy Impact Assessment Policy (Effective date: May 2, 2002)
The Government of Canada's new Privacy Impact Assessment Policy (PIA) enhances the implementation of the federal Privacy Act by providing federal departments and agencies with a consistent framework to identify and resolve privacy issues during the design or re-design of programs and services.
