Gerry Tobin, 35, was shot in the neck as he rode home from a Hells Angels-sponsored motorcycle festival on Aug. 21. At the time, he was on the M40 expressway near Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, about 200 kilometres north of London.
Soon after the shooting, police said they suspected that Tobin — a member of the Hells Angels biker gang — was specifically targeted.
Tobin, who was born in London, emigrated to Canada at the age of two and settled with his family in Calgary.
He returned to Britain about 10 years ago and lived in Mottingham, southwest of London. He worked as a mechanic at a Harley-Davidson dealership, alongside his fiancée, Rebecca Smith.
The five men charged — Simon Turner, 41, Dane Garside, 42, Malcolm Bull, 53, Dean Taylor, 46, and Ian Cameron, 45 — will stand trial in October.
Their addresses are not being released by the court.
Two other men also charged with murder in the case are due to enter their pleas next month.
