CBC 20th Annual Turkey Drive
CBC News | Nov. 26, 2007
Students from Stone Park Junior High School raised $500 from concerts they've performed during the holiday season. They came to the CBC lobby and spoke to Kerry Campbell.

CBC has wrapped up another successful Turkey Drive, raising more than 3,000 turkeys for the second year running.

This was the 20th annual Turkey Drive sponsored by the CBC. The 3,130 donations will easily meet the need of 2,200 turkeys estimated by the Island's food banks, and ensure that every Islander who wants a holiday turkey this year will have one.

This year's drive also saw many donations of cash and other food for the feast. Charlottetown food bank manager Mike MacDonald said any leftover turkeys will keep in the freezer until Easter.

A Night of Carols and Comedy, featuring Compass host Bruce Rainnie and weather reporter Kevin (Boomer) Gallant, was delayed by weather this year, but the first show went ahead Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre in Summerside, where it was announced $3,065 was raised in addition to the 3,130 turkeys. The second delayed show will run Jan. 3, with a post-Christmas theme.

CBC Prince Edward Island would like to thank everyone who contributed to this year's Turkey Drive.
