In the Speech
from the Throne on June 29, 2006 the government committed to working with Nova Scotians to improve supports for students pursuing post-secondary education.
We committed to “examine all existing, planned,
and proposed student and graduate support programs, including loans,
bursaries, debt forgiveness, and tax credits, with a view to maximizing
benefits to students and keeping more of our best and brightest
here at home where they can contribute to our collective success.”
I am pleased to launch the public consultation
phase of an ongoing review of the Nova Scotia
Student Assistance Program and encourage you
to take advantage of this opportunity to share your feedback with
us.
To ensure that your
views are heard we will be holding a series of
public meetings around the province and have
created an online form for you to submit your
comments.
Individuals / organizations are also
invited to make submissions.
By working together we can ensure that our programs
are more responsive to Nova Scotians who are
pursuing post-secondary studies. I look forward to receiving your input as I complete this review.
Hon. Karen Casey
Minister of Education
